Katie’s greatest pastime is traveling between Ohio and Florida. She was born in Cincinnati, then moved to Orlando with her parents and brother when she was 4, and to Lakeland when she was 8. She attended the I.B. program at Bartow High School, then took a road trip with the family to Columbus – where they left her for 4 years at The Ohio State University. She made her way back down to St. Petersburg with a Biological Mathematics degree and an invitation to attend Stetson University College of Law. After a Covid-ordained “remote” graduation from law school and unfurling her degree from a mailer, she discovered she had earned the William F. Blews Pro Bono Service Award for performing at least double the amount of the required pro bono service during her law school career.
During law school, she worked as a clerk with the Florida Office of the Attorney General’s Child Support Enforcement Division in Pinellas and Hillsborough counties, and, at the same time one summer, a part-time clerk at Gassman, Crotty & Denicolo, P.A. in Clearwater.
Katie joined Reed Mawhinney & Link as a paralegal at the end of 2022, having found a penchant for probate and trust administration. The attorneys and staff at RML graciously assisted her with what has been affectionately referred to as a ‘sabbatical,’ to take the Florida Bar exam in July 2024. Now that she has passed, she is eager to serve and grow with the Lakeland community.
