FIRM HISTORY
Reed Mawhinney & Link’s enduring success is rooted within its mission statement, “Faithfully advising clients through life’s pivotal moments, empowering them to find peace of mind and seize new opportunities through informed, practical, and thoughtful legal counsel.”
Originally established in 2007 as the Law Office of Andrew M. Reed, the practice initially operated as a solo general practice. During those formative years, Andy quickly gained a reputation for being a competent, diligent and honest attorney. He also forged strong relationships within the Lakeland legal community. It was that reputation and those relationships that ultimately allowed the office to evolve into the firm it is today.
In 2011, Joe Mawhinney joined the practice, bringing with him more than 35 years of litigation experience and a lengthy tenure as the City of Lakeland’s City Attorney. His addition marked a significant milestone for the firm, leading to its renaming as Reed & Mawhinney. With Joe Mawhinney’s expertise complementing Andy Reed’s transaction-focused practice, the firm rapidly expanded both its services and client base.
A year later, in 2012, Will Link became a part of the firm, enhancing the firm’s proficiency in the areas of commercial and residential real estate, business law, and mergers & acquisitions. Will’s extensive experience further contributed to the firm’s growth and reputation. Will’s addition also allowed Andy to focus his practice on estate planning, trusts, and probate administration while Will took the reins of the firm’s transactional practice group. Recognizing Will Link’s valuable contributions, he was named a partner in 2015, and the firm was rebranded to what is known as today, Reed Mawhinney & Link.
Since then, the firm has steadily grown to six attorneys with more than 150 combined years of legal experience, added several complimentary service areas, including employment law and mediation, and relocated to the beautiful swan-filled shores of Lake Morton.
